Laura NiznikLaura Niznik
Manager, Government and Community Relations, UC Davis Medical Center

Laura Niznik is the Manager of Government and Community Relations for UC Davis Health System, where she is responsible for advancing the Health System’s mission of academic preparation, collaborative partnerships, government relations, community benefit and outreach. Her professional background includes working for several non-profit associations and serving as a health care magazine editor for more than 10 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies and is also a graduate of the Metro Chamber’s Leadership Sacramento, Class of 2009. Laura, her husband and infant daughter reside in Roseville.

Alan Boyd
Retired, Operations Manager, City of Sacramento Recreation and Parks Department

Alan recently retired from the City of Sacramento after 33 years with the Department of Parks and Recreation. With a Recreation career spanning 50 years, Alan has had extensive experience in developing and managing programs and services for senior citizens, people with disabilities, latch key children and other programs responsive to the human and social needs of the community. Alan has served on the Community Link Board first as the City of Sacramento’s designee and currently as an elected member, a combined total of over 15 years. Alan is a graduate of San Jose State University, and he and his wife Susan have four children, five grandchildren and a great-grand daughter.

David BowenDavid Bowen
Retired CPA

Dave recently retired from his position as Managing Director of Deloitte’s Sacramento office. He has over 29 years of management consulting experience and has worked with both government and private industry in a wide variety of consulting assignments. As head of the local Deloitte office, David chairs its Community Involvement committee and is responsible for leading its community outreach and support efforts in the greater Sacramento area. David also serves on the Board of Directors of the local United Way and volunteers his time in several local not-for-profit agencies. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. David resides in Granite Bay with his wife and two daughters, and enjoys reading and traveling to new destinations.

Benjamin (Ben) WebsterBenjamin (Ben) Webster
Attorney and Managing Shareholder of Sacramento Office of  Littler Mendelson

Ben opened the Sacramento office of the Pillsbury law firm where he was managing partner for eight years. In 2009 he became the Managing Shareholder of the Sacramento Office of Littler Mendelson. Ben has extensive experience in litigation, binding arbitrations, and mediations in a variety of complex disputes and has provided labor and employment advice to various local, regional, and national clients. Ben has also worked as a reporter for the daily newspaper in Red Bluff, CA and in Washington, DC, as a legislative correspondent for Congressman Harold T. “Bizz” Johnson (D-CA). He is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Virginia Law School. In addition to his work with Community link, Ben serves on the Board of the Lassen Park Foundation and is a member of the Corporate Volunteer Council of the Sacramento Region. Ben lives in Carmichael with his wife, Joy Wake, and three middle school sons, Ethan, Grant, and Keith. They enjoy hiking, skiing, and taking family vacations together.

Retired, pmpm Consulting Group

Karen Taranto recently retired as principal and president of pmpm Consulting Group, a firm that specializes in the development, operation, and turnaround of healthcare delivery systems, focusing on the physician and health plan components.  Prior to founding pmpm Consulting, Karen worked for a variety of healthcare organizations, including Sutter Health, Sacramento Physicians Medical Group Network and American River Hospital.  She helped establish the Sacramento Child Abuse Prevention Council and has been a volunteer and board member of other local nonprofit organizations.
